Where in the world...

Americans and their horrible sense of direction and geography was always something of a myth for me.  That is, until today.  While I was waiting to pick up my baked ziti at an Italian restaurant, I overheard two nutsacks gabbing about a picture of Italy on the wall.

Nutsack #1: "What's that island next to Italy?"

Nutsack #2: "Sicily, it says."

Nutsack #1: "What's to the left of Italy?"

Nutsack #2: "Cooooooooooor-sika."

Nutsack #1: "No, not the island.  To the left.  What country is to the left of Italy?"

Nutsack #2: *ponders for a minute* "Russia, I think.  Yea, it's Russia."

Nutsack #1: "Oh, cool.  Didn't know that."

I always thought these stories were an urban legend.  Now I know better.  It's not that every other country is smarter than us but rather we're so goddamn stupid.

I am actually completely, 100% dumb when it comes to geography. I blame it on my shitty inner-city, ghetto, public school primary education. I'm glad I can read after going to such a school where the teachers could not teach because we locked them in closets, spat on them, and there was constant disruption. Thinking back, we should have just arrested the disrupters because they ended up in jail anyway (wow, that was so harsh and republican of me).
